Safety is a concern to all home buyers. So it is fantastic that The National Council for Home Safety and Security recently ranked two cities in Rockwall County are among the Top 50 Safest Cities in Texas, 2017. The safety ranking is measured using the FBI Uniform Crime Report Statistics. Two statistics were considered, violent crimes (aggravated assault, murder, rape and robbery) and property crimes (burglary, arson, larceny-theft, and motor vehicle theft) per 1,000 people
Royse City ranked at number 35* and Heath came in at number 5. Heath has a 2017 population of 8,176. Nationally, the average for violent crimes per 1,000 is 6.85. In Heath the average is just 0.24. The national average for property crimes in the US is 27 per thousand while Heath reports on 3 property crimes per thousand.
As realtors we encourage all buyers to check out crime statistics for any community they are considering calling home. Local police department provide crime statistics online. If you don’t find the data you need to make an informed decision call the police department and ask for pertinent information.
*The National Council for Home Safety and Security provided detailed statistics for only the Top 5 Cities, for that reason statistics for Royse City are not available.
